Backend Engineer

Design and operate the APIs, data models, and background jobs that power our product. You care about correctness, observability, and long-term maintainability.

Requirements

2+ years building production backends (Node/Go/Python/Java/etc.)
Strong SQL and relational data modeling — Postgres preferred
Experience designing REST or RPC APIs that multiple clients consume
Familiar with authentication, authorization, and rate-limiting patterns

Responsibilities

Own service boundaries — API design, migrations, background workers
Write and review migrations that run safely against live traffic
Add structured logging, metrics, and traces to hot code paths
Participate in on-call rotation and postmortems

Nice to haves

Worked with event-driven systems (Kafka, SQS, Pub/Sub)
Comfort with IaC (Terraform, Pulumi)
Experience with Supabase, Firebase, or similar BaaS
